The French Government introduced the obligation to wear a reflective vest for all motorcyclists, including the drivers of three wheels and quad. Starting next year, from 1 January 2016, according to Decree 2015-514 of May 7, the French bikers will have to have in the trunk a high visibility vest that will be used during stops at the roadside, the same jacket that French drivers carry with them in the car as a must since 2008.
Motorcyclists across the Alps will have to wear the safety vest in case of emergency, accident or damage, and must be kept in a storage compartment of the bike, as long as it can be easily removed. Who will be caught without a reflective vest you will have to pay a fine of 11 Euros, not those who will wear it in case of emergency will be forced to pay a fine of 135 €, as is the case for motorists.
In Italy the obligation to wear a reflective vest in case of emergency is in force since 2004, to pay a penalty from 39 to 159 Euros plus the subtraction of two points from the driving license. Even cyclists are obliged to wear special high visibility vests when they march to the tunnel “from the towns by half an hour after sunset to half an hour before sunrise.” For them, the penalties range from 24 to 94 euro.
