Commitment duties in Austria
For all journeys with all motor vehicles, dust-tightly packaged, non-polluting, insulated dressing material suitable for wound care must be carried along. When driving in multi-lane motor vehicles, suitable warning clothing must be on board. The warning clothing must comply with ÖNORM EN 471. This provides several possibilities, e.g. Reflective warning vest, jumpsuit, jacket, trousers or even a bridle with corresponding reflective stripes. If they comply with the ÖNORM, all these garments are considered to be suitable – as a rule, however, warning vests are used.
Although it is only necessary to carry warning gear for the handlebars, it is advisable to pack a warning vest with all passengers. Anyone who does not have a warning sign that corresponds to ÖNORM during a check must expect a fine of 14 Euro. If the warning vest is disregarded, the penalty range is up to 5,000 Euros.
