Road safety in Board primary school

This Thursday, April 14 morning, students CM2 of Board Primary School gathered in the parking lot near the stadium of the village to develop cycling on maneuverability track set up by Christophe Kaleen, rural village guard and Jean-Claude volunteer delegate of road safety Grad invited by the municipality. In the afternoon, the children of the CM1 have succeeded their elders.

Each year, the Guard organizes two awareness days’ traffic regulations from these classes. The first day is a theoretical day during which students are made aware of the correct attitudes of pedestrians, cyclists and car passengers and brief information on bus transportation, children CM2 will travel to college next year. The conclusion of this first day is that too many children are not attached in the car on short trips. At the end of the day a noted test is performed.

The second day is that of today. Children can bring their own bike with wear safety vest, which use a bicycle of road safety. There also each child is noted. If these two days are a repeat of CM1 for the following year, it is not the same for the CM2. The child getting the best grade will meet the best child in each school represented at the county championship in Nimes 15 June 2016 take the opportunity to remind some rules? By bike, day or night, wearing the retro-reflective vest is mandatory for all open road, the bicycle lighting device is mandatory helmet is strongly recommended. The goal is to reduce the accident in the department because the Grad is one of the worst students in France. About 10% of drivers are bad drivers irreducible.

Operation Cyclists: Shine with reflective equipment

The seasons pass and autumn will soon make way for winter. For cyclists, it is time to worry about their visibility. On the roads, with the fog, the rain and the snow, good reflective equipment must be de rigueur. Precisely, to raise the awareness of the most cyclists in the port of these equipments, the operation “Cyclists, shine!” is thrown!

A bike safety campaign

The Delegation for Road Safety and Road Traffic (DSCR), in charge of road safety policy, is not on its first try. It regularly organizes communication campaigns to remind and teach every cyclist that everyone must “have a bicycle in good condition, well equipped and well lit”.

She insists that a cyclist must also learn, “know and apply the rules of travel, day and night” to minimize the risk of accidents. Every year, the “Cyclists: shine!” An event is that will take place from 2 to 8 November and which allow remembering the basic rules of safety by bike.

Be visible!

“Cyclists: shine!” It reminds all that day and night is necessary to be equipped with lights. Indeed, when visibility on roads becomes reduced, the risk of accidents for poorly equipped cyclists increases. Therefore, it is better to leave with an active lighting. With the light of your bicycle lights, front and rear, you will see while being seen!

Choose a fixed lighting that will accompany you continuously and that you will not forget to climb when you are in a hurry. You can opt for battery-powered lighting or a stand-alone dynamo. Always operating at full power, they can even now be installed in the hub. These hub dynamos will also have an advantage: that of running at all times.

Think of your passive lighting: front and rear reflectors as well as wheel and pedal reflectors. As with the safety vest and other signaling accessories such as reflex cuffs and hazard spreaders, they are optional but highly recommended!

Many events

Other associations act in the same way as the DSCR. Many events will take place throughout November for this week. For example all this week, the association of urban cycling promotion for Le Mans will offer a light kit to any new member.

The Federation of Bicycle Users (FUB), which brings together more than 185 associations, has also set up actions to raise awareness not only of the importance of being well equipped on bicycle but also of having quality lighting: Information booths, diagnostics of your lighting, or special offers such as “a cuff or a reflective vest for the purchase of a lighting kit”…

The “flash” reflective fabric Rudy secure outputs night

Housed in Montour, Rudy Sabah develops an innovative product to secure the pedestrians at night. “My flash” should be all the rage in the early autumn.

It is by seeing a child through to his car at the last moment, at night; Rudy had the idea of investing the security niche. “I had the desire to work on the night of graphical visibility and I had the materials for, so I got into the retro-reflective fabric patch.” The Adventure Concept Cube starts, before settling in Montour: the entrepreneur took advantage of this change of activity to find the region Center-Val de Loire with his family. Former graphic designer, Rudy Sabbath the idea of offering a product that provides above all the safety of pedestrian, cyclist or motorcyclist, but that is as design.

“The yellow jackets and armbands, school never wear them. My flash is repositionable to envy: they glue on his bag, his trainers, and his jacket. And in the day you can stick it behind his mobile phone.” This textile 3 to 6 cm in diameter is printed in black on gray, with different ranges of graphics. It is covered with glass beads that begin to shine in the night: the gray part reflects light. “The adhesive gel that is my trade secret is washable. We can stick and remove the fabric and reflective tape that looks like a badge or a shield as much as you want. If it sticks less simply washes with soap and water. ”

The first customers of Montour entrepreneur are local authorities. Who use the object as advertising media distributed at sporting events or awareness campaigns on road safety. The county councils and road safety are too. Last September, the county council of Loir-et-Cher has distributed hundreds to college.

“I would have to happen to convince them to print their logos on the dark side, and let design that appeal to young visible. This is the only way that they use every day.” Rudy Sabbath also studying other state that could adopt my flash: bikers, the audience at the exit of concerts, etc. “I have in a year and a half, sold 80,000 pieces. Now we need I go into shops, that’s my goal in January when I will spend Concept Cube society. I believe distribute among cyclists vendors, motorcycles, gas stations or tobacco press. And secondly I hope in fashion or luggage. ”

To develop this innovative product, the creative Rudy has many other trails. “One can imagine a flash code printed on it. That provides access to applications to know who it belongs to, useful information in case of loss or accident. ”

Who goes hunting…?

This Sunday for the opening in Loir-et-Cher, who goes hunting will not forget … to prepare his outfit, being careful not to forget the reflective vest, or fluorescent orange armband that will identify other hunters. And why not a repositionable adhesive manufactured in Vendome? Who goes hunting will not forget either … check his gun, and take every precaution to transport. And who goes hunting on Sunday and bring a beautiful hare … will train at the back to make the difficult recipe for hare royal, the first world championship held at the next Gastronomic Days Cologne.

What does this reflective sign again?

Difficult to be exhaustive present all the traffic rules for bicycles, and therefore motorists. With this small selection by five points, the NR proposed to refresh your memory so that all users – bicycles, pedestrians and motorists – share the road safety.

  1. The advanced stop line. They allow cyclists to position themselves in front of cars at traffic lights. These are spaces defined by lines and a white or green beach. Motorized vehicles are required to stop before the airlock. “The rider is not in the line of cars. It can turn left safely,” says Christian, president of the association Cycling 41 deploring still too many motorists stops on these spaces. The locks also allow cyclists to be more visible and avoid accidents associated with blind spots, with heavyweights such.
  2. The contra flow lane. In some one-way streets for cars, cyclists in safety vest can, themselves, move in both directions. These double cycle directions are indicated by a square panel with a blue background with arrows in both directions and a bicycle on one of them. For Christian, “the interest of double meaning is that the cyclist sees danger in the face”. Another asset, these axes may avoid other more dangerous routes for bikes.
  3. The panels at traffic lights. Under some traffic lights are triangular panels with a yellow bicycle on white background. This panel allows cyclists to go on red if they are straight or if they turn to the right, the arrows under the bike indicate possible directions. Pedestrians, however, remain a priority.
  4. The meeting areas. These are spaces where live bicycles, pedestrians and cars. The panel is square with a pedestrian, a bicycle, a car on blue background. Pedestrians, is who can walk on the same floor where the sidewalks have priority over bicycles and cars. The speed limit is 20 km / h.
  5. Mandatory equipment. Bicycles must have brakes (one front, one rear), a yellow or white front light and a red rear light. They must also be equipped with a horn, reflectors (retro-reflective devices) red on the back, white front, orange on the sides and on the pedals. Wearing a retro reflective vest is mandatory for any rider flowing open road at night or when visibility is poor?

Small Rider manual: rules to know to ride a motorcycle

Want to become a biker with in safety vest? You feel the call of motorbikes, but you do not know the rules before you ride your bike. Fortunately, the ACA is here!

You feel the call of motorbikes but you do not have a motorcycle license. What are the opportunities that are available to you?

The different categories of permits

The age of the future rider and the power of its engine determine the class of license to go:

The category A1, accessible from the age of sixteen allows driving a motorcycle 125 cm3 and 11 kW at most, having a power / weight ratio not exceeding 0.1 kW per kilogram;

The class A2, for more than eighteen, allows the operation of a vehicle 35 kW power at most, with a power / weight ratio not more than 0.2 kW per kg;

The Class A opens, meanwhile, the doors of the most powerful vehicles for over twenty-four years and holders of A1 license for at least two years. The latter regulation may, however, be likely to change, a draft decree providing for the mandatory use category A2 (including for more than twenty-four years).

The cases without specific motorcycle license

As an exception to the rules mentioned, it is possible to drive (in the country):

The driving license (driving license) is sufficient or even useless for those born before 1 January 1988 or with the AM license (former Road Safety Certificate).

A light two-wheeled up to 125 cm3. The B permit must be held for at least two years, provided they have undergone practical training (7 am) or to justify a practice of driving a light motorcycle or tricycle (more 50 cm3 or top speed of origin at 45 km / h) in the period of five years prior to 1 January 2011. Regarding the passage of events, it is interesting to note that obtaining a category allowed for five years or less, exemption from passing the theory test.

List of mandatory motorcycle equipment

Helmet

It must be approved and attached by both the driver and the passenger. Besides the obviousness safe, the e non-helmet is punishable by a fine of € 135 and a loss of 3 points of the license if the offense is committed by the driver.

The high visibility vest

The driver must have close to a reflective vest to be able to put in an emergency (immobilization of the vehicle in case of failure). Otherwise, the fine is 11 € (135 € for non-use situation).

The breathalyzer

Excluding moped driver, the driver has to prove the possession of a breathalyzer (not used if it is disposable), available immediately. However, the lack of possession of a breathalyzer is not verbalized.

Summer, winter, insurance guarantees the seasons

If the warm seasons are conducive to motorcycle escapades when coming cold seasons, climatic conditions make this behavior less attractive and make you a standstill.

Thus, insurers can offer, for those periods, suspend the different cover taken. It is understood that by choosing such a formula, you must remain insured under the minimum guarantee liability, which is mandatory.

The registration plate

Your vehicle must have a license plate, yellow or white with reflective material, set highlight at the rear. It must be irremovable and measure 21 x 13 cm (mandatory single format since 02/18/2015). Vehicles that already have plates do not have to change given that since 2009, both formats prevalent: 14 x 12 cm for mopeds and 17 x 13 cm or 21 x 13 cm for motorcycles. In case of non-compliance, the fixed fine is 135 €.

Avoiding autumn road accidents with wearing safety vest

Whether one is a pedestrian, cyclist or motorist, autumn, visibility is reduced, especially when the days shrink with the transition to winter time. Here are some road safety tips to see and be seen.

In autumn, we review its road safety rules

Whether one is a pedestrian, cyclist or motorist, autumn, visibility is reduced, especially when changing to winter time. The accident risks are increasing. In 2016, road deaths have increased for the second consecutive year, both at national and regional level, while the balance sheet in 2015 was rather positive (-8 killed or -4.1% compared to 2014 by region Centre- Loire valley). Since the beginning of 2016 (January to September), according to figures from the Road Safety Regional Observatory  of the Center-Loire Valley, there is an increase in the number of deceased (killed 2 or + 4%) -the trend is similar to the national level (76 killed or + 3.1%) – compared to the previous year. Here are some safety rules to follow.

Pedestrians: 10 rules recommended by the Road Safety

  • On the sidewalk, walk away from the edge
  • Avoid down on the floor
  • Take care of the vehicles
  • Along a road or sidewalk without street, walk left the roadway. At night, wear bright clothing or reflective accessory
  • Use crosswalks to cross or, failing that, seek the safest place
  • Before crossing, look left, right, then left again before to commit. In the middle of the road, look right again
  • At the traffic lights, wait for the man to be turned green for crossing. Ensure that all vehicles are stopped
  • Never run to cross
  • Pay attention to bicycles and motorcycles that weave between cars
  • At an intersection, when crossing, be careful to vehicles coming from other streets

For children on the way to school (on the advice of the police)

With the time change, the way to school is now done at night. For children who go there on foot or bicycle, you should make them wear a yellow vest regardless of their age. The vest will allow them to be seen by motorists.

Namely: the child has a visual acuity reduced until the age of 10 years. Although at 6 or 7 years old, his field of vision is comparable to that in adults, it tends to neglect peripheral vision essential to the understanding of the dangers of traffic. The child does not know properly judge distances, and it is difficult to distinguish a car that slowly moves from a stationary vehicle. Due to its small size, the child has a partial view of the dangers of the street signs are too high, cars or vans in parking tickets, prevented him from seeing and being seen. Parents good an example…

Safety Tips for Cyclists

Needless to say the Highway Code also applies to cyclists … Is not it? First, bicycle enthusiasts must wear a reflective vest and ride with equipment in good condition. Obvious that everyone does not seem to apply to the letter. Small wakeup call for better security: a bike in good condition and well equipped helps ensure your safety and that of other road users, says the road safety.

They are demanding more safety on the “road of death”

While a tribute is organized in memory of the victims, tongues loosen and hopes are formulated.

“Death Road”, an exaggerated term, “usurped” for the Department and specifically the county House of sustainable management. Responsible for maintenance of the RD231, they point to further the “errors of conduct” of users and call for their wear a safety vest and compliance with the rules of the road.

Simply yet to type the name of the road into a search engine to find that the axis has very bad press and cumulative fatalities. The words of the Department are bound relatives of various victims who lost their lives in different places of this long winding axis. They are called Antoine… Only on the year that just ended.

“And we do not know half of the accidents that have occurred on this road, as there were many others, fatal or not,” says the family of Anis, another victim of accident on the county in 2014. The girl, she has not died on that road. But she and her family had their daily switch as brutally as for others. Anis has now lost any form of autonomy. Her parents hope that she will one day a minimum of mobility and will contact them again. They engaged in a daily struggle for that.

Families waiting

They share another hope: that work be undertaken to secure the RD231. “We just wish there are more accidents”, begs Evelyn’s mother Anis, pointing the dangerousness of the county. “We could do if only shave a little embankments to improve visibility in bends, for example”, says the father of Anis.

An investigation is ongoing to determine the causes of this accident. “We will carry complaint in all cases. The results of the expertise simply determine how we will. But for now, I’m waiting to know if my son well respected speed limits and all indications are that it did “spear dad, too convinced of the accident-prone nature of the road. He added: “Myself, I never borrowed this road; I walked around by the A16.”

For him, there is an obvious solution to secure the road: lowering the speed limit. The man does not understand why it remains so high (90 and 70 km / h) and changes several times over a few kilometers. It also points to the lack of visibility in different places. And on the very spot where his son died, he added, “this junction should have been abolished long ago”. It’s near the same intersection Antoine Boniface, volunteer firefighter, was killed a year ago. He was on foot and climbed the RD231 at night without reflective vest. Driving at risk, but that does not resolve Nicolas Devein, his former colleague who lives a few hundred meters from the scene of the accident, to draw a line under what happened.

The white walking is above all a tribute, but it also offers hope of some relatives of victims. Not all want one thing: more security.

White On October 16, at 9:30 am at the school Ellingham. The procession will join the cross street of Angouleme. Participants must bring a yellow vest.

People in safety vest work for Large caps perspective

The Great Gathering of Calais and farmers wearing reflective clothing intend to conduct a major blocking operation Monday, September 5 to protest against the management of the migratory crisis and the repeated assaults every night on the axes around Calais.

“Our goal is to show our dismay at this situation in Calais.” With these words Frederic Van, president of the Trade Union of Calais, began the press conference on Monday morning about movement of September 5. Of Calais, port employees, traders, farmers and road haulers in safety vest are called to mobilize to get a clear answer on the dismantling of the Jungle. Two snail operations will be organized. One from Dunkirk, the other of Boulogne is Calais with rallying point where a block will be operated on the A16.

At the same time, the movement invites everyone to gather at the stage of the Epic in Calais at 9am and wearing a reflective vest to form a human chain up the A16.”The good-shares are over. Once software is changed “Frederic Van complete. If the movement does not get a response, officials have told they could block the highway as long as it takes, day and night.
