With safety vests safely to school

The kick-off event of the community campaign “Safe to school – safe home” was filled on Thursday at the Jean Paul School. The school district hosted this event for new school children and their parents.

The beginning of school is an exciting event especially for the first-graders and their parents, said school director Owe villages. The action “Safe to school – safe home” exist since 1969 and has been an important concern since that time, all at the beginning of the school year, because it is about the safety on the way to school. For decades, various measures and police protection have ensured that all students come to school unscathed, emphasized Dormer. But the school also made an important contribution to the exploration of the school environment, said the school director – even if there is no complete security, said Droller to consider.

In Upper Franconia, 8584 first graders were enrolled, 3.5 percent more than in the previous year, said government vice-president Thomas Engel. Many parents remembered their own school days and whether their children could get along with the teacher or get used to school. But what can one do so that nothing happens to the children on the way to school? Engel pointed out that a whole network of Upper Franconia cares about the safety on the way to school. Professional helpers, such as the police, but also many volunteers, institutions such as the VR-Bank or companies that provide financial resources, care about the safety of the youngest.

“Children learn from their parents”

Traffic education started very early and the children first learned from their parents, Engel said. “Children see parents as role models”. And this role model of the parents is just in demand at the beginning of the school year. Safety is not just a task of the parents, but a common task.

Cobourg’s second mayor, Birgit Weber, recalled her own school enrollment in 1969 at the elementary school. Exactly this year, the campaign “Safe to school – safe home” was launched. At that time, the first years were equipped with yellow caps. In the classroom there was the subject of traffic education and in school the bicycle license was made. Since that time, a lot has happened and today the children would be equipped with throws the traffic guard and reflective vests of the ADAC.

Too many accidents

The time of starting school was a very intense time for the police, said police commissioner Thomas. For several weeks every day, several dozen school trips would be carried out, and that would be as intensive as possible. His colleagues would love to do that and pay attention to the safety of the weakest traffic participants. Last year, 32 000 traffic accidents involving 5300 wounded and 57 fatalities were recorded in Upper Franconia. But there were also school-leaving accidents, with 44 students injured and eight of them were seriously injured. This figure, according to Thomas, is too high and the police are trying to minimize it. Motorists often did not give the first-graders the necessary attention. In the area of the police headquarters Upper Franconia, there are 1645 school helpers, 745 school students, 117 school bus attendants and 511 school bus drivers, reported the police council.

Distribute over 1000 throws

The first-graders are the weakest road users in traffic, Sebastian said in his capacity as the second chairman of the watch tower. Over 1000 reflective tapes have been distributed in the city and in the district. Sebastian directed his appeal to the parents to ensure that children carry these throw consistently, because especially in the dark season, the recognizability is particularly important.

In the 2018/2019 school year, 1062 pupils, including 323 in the city and 739 in the district of Cobourg, begin their school life. The kick-off event was musically designed by Neil Stefano and Noelle from the Music School.

Holiday fun in the last holiday week

Also in the last holiday week, there were plenty of adventure for children as part of the urban children’s holiday program. 12 children met for a great afternoon at the shooting club. At the beginning, interesting facts about the air rifle and the shooting sport were explained. Then it went for a part already in the shooting range, the other went outside and played darts. Thanks to the electronic shooting range there are conditions such as the Olympic facility in Munich. Proper stance, holding the air rifle, charging and aiming and then hitting the middle proved not so easy. After a few test shots, the points were counted to crown the “winner” at the end of the day. Between the passes, the children tested the marksmanship at the darts competition, played foosball or football or fortified themselves with cool drinks.

For the second time, the brewery offered a guided tour. 15 children, equipped with a safety vest, made their way to the interior of the brewery. After the participants had learned about the basic ingredients of brewing art such as hops, malt, water and yeast, the very brave ones were allowed to examine the huge beer tanks from the inside. In order to come back stronger after the long excursion, the brewery offered children an original brewery pretzel with apple spritzer.

15 boys and girls attended the program “Children’s Yoga”. After the welcome by the yoga teacher, it was a round of introductions and then directly into the “lotus position”, the seat of yoga. In this attitude, there was first a meditation, to calm down and to strengthen the concentration.

This concentration had to show the children in exercises such as the caterpillar, cat, dog. To greet the morning and welcome the sun, the children learned the sun salutation.

A karate introductory training also took place in the last holiday week. After the welcome by head coach Schlitz and his assistant trainers, there was a small karate quiz followed by warm-up exercises. It continued with targeted stroke exercises, with concentration and body control played a major role.

Children wore safety clothing were taught a step-fist-kick combination, which they then tested on special padding. The children were working up a sweat. In between, there were always games that required the skill and teamwork of the children.

The next day, the Taekwondo-Do-taster training took place. After the welcome by Christian Forster the warm-up started and the kids learned how to count in Korean. With much enthusiasm, the children were immediately afterwards able to prove their kicking ability in the “foil test”. The stronger the kick was, the louder was the sound that made the special foil. The self-liberation from hand and strangleholds was popular. With the right technology, every little fighter could free himself from the grip of his opponent. A shadow fight at the end and splitting a board with a single kick was the highlight of the day. At the end of the introductory training everyone received a small present from the Taekwondo-Do Center.

18 young people came together for the “adventure trip through the night” with six employees in the room rented by the community in the Adam Rauscher house. After the welcome by the leaders and staff and a “get-acquainted game”, the kids were divided into groups for a city game. Much joy made approximately two hours lasting game, whereby it went around the topic: “all banana or what?”. For example, the kids had to measure a car length with a banana. That makes you hungry is not a problem. So the young people made their way to dinner. Anyone who was in the mood for a stick bread with jam afterwards could bake this on a glowing dish prepared with charcoal.

Then they set off on the torch night walk, which then had to be stopped because it literally seemed to fall in the water.

Back at the Adam Rauscher house, a lot was played, rattled and romped, until a DVD ushered in the end of the evening.

The next morning, after a copious breakfast, the young people listened to a biblical story, presented by Martin, youth lecturer at the community. A heartfelt thank you go out from the community to all the parents who have trusted to entrust their children for a day and a night.

On Thursday afternoon, 30 children who wear hi vis vests met at the Bowling Center. After the welcome groups were formed, who played together on one of the eight tracks. After a few “normal” game, the children were allowed to bowl under a black light. The girls and boys were there with joy and zeal, so that in the end the group with the most points could enjoy a free drink. The best player and the best player got a bowling voucher.

There was a lot of fun for 20 children at “Game and fun around the horse” at the riding club at the end of the week. In a beautiful weather, the children got a tour and a stable guide with explanations in attitude, handling and care of the horses and first basics for the physique of the animals. Especially the horse Thor got many strokes of the mostly female participants. They were also allowed to take part in a quiz on the knowledge they learned so well that initially no clear winner was found. For the last determined winner, there was then pony riding for free.

Unprotected road users

Today, traffic police throughout the country conduct national control and prevention activities in the name of “unprotected road users”. They are designed to improve the safety of pedestrians and cyclists – these road users are particularly vulnerable to the tragic consequences of these events in accidents.

During the course of the operation, the supervision will cover areas that are particularly dangerous for pedestrians. That is, passages where pedestrians are detained through busy roads. Police officers will pay attention to whether drivers are trying to use “stronger laws” related to pedestrians, such as exercising priority at a crossroads, especially during so-called “green arrows”.

We remind managers that the school year has begun and that children and adolescents can be found on the roads near the school. These are road users who should be given special attention. It happens that children, especially when they move around in a group and focus on conversation. They act unscrupulously, such as crossing the road or walking the wrong road.

Currently, the police are carrying out activities “safe way to go to school” focusing on the safety of children and adolescents near the school. We are promoting the drivers so they can drive carefully and focus on the youngest participants in the movement.

Regardless of the season, the driver should clearly see unprotected road users. Therefore, pedestrians must wear reflective vests, especially where required by regulations, that is, after darkness outside the building area. Remember, when preparing a school for beginners, be sure to put a reflective element(like reflective vests or reflective tapes) on his coat.

The use of reflective materials increases the visibility of the pedestrian several times, giving the driver more time to perform the manipulation of the pass or brake.

A gift for drivers

The 13th Sobriety Days are underway. Traditionally, the police joined the action of the City, which from today to Saturday will lead intensified checks on the sobriety of drivers. On Thursday, motorists were given a small gift from the president.

During Thursday’s action. No drunk driver was stopped. All the inspected, received a small gift from the city: a first aid kit, a reflective vest, a car smell, a pen and a leash. “I have nothing to hide, and I think that there are a lot of irresponsible drivers who get behind the wheel on a double gas and should be severely punished.” says Tome, the bus driver stopped today to control by the Kalisz road route.

The numbers speak for themselves. From the beginning of the year to the end of August, Kalisz police officers detained 284 drunk drivers. Many of them may not have suffered any consequences of their irresponsible behavior except for the witnesses’ reaction. So it was last Friday. The 65-year-old woman driving the Peugeot hit a parked Renault during a reverse maneuver. “When a people approached woman to ask if she needed help, the manager tried to leave the scene. The man realized that the driver could be under the influence of alcohol. He decided to react. He pulled out the keys from the Peugeot substation and called the police officers in. “says asp. Anna, spokesman for the Kalisz police.

The woman had 2.5 per of alcohol in the body. Driving a vehicle in the state of intoxication in the light of the law in force in Poland is a crime for which a fine or a penalty of restriction of liberty or imprisonment of up to 2 years may be imposed.

The 23rd Sobriety Days were inaugurated on Saturday in the Main Square. This is an action that aims to promote life without addictions. “Tomorrow we address socio-therapeutic day care centers to a traditional event: a run, attractions under the slogan ‘Lenya Lode’. On Saturday, a family festival will take place, at the scout’s stanchion. This is an event that has been accompanying the sobriety days from the very beginning. It is an opportunity to meet people from the sobriety environment, to have fun together sober. On Saturday evening, we invite you to the bicycle and roller rally ‘Kalisz is an example’.” says Janus, head of the Department of Social and Housing Affairs.

The start of the rally is planned at dusk, around 19.30. The ride will start with the participants’ meeting in the parking lot. The first 300 cyclists and skaters who will come to the “start line” will receive high visibility vests from the organizers.

Endurance is an essential feature of the survival-like backpacks of the season. Firm fronts protect the contents of the backpacks, while lined styles, worn in front, protect the wearer. Reflective tape and neon colors introduce a Hi-vis work wear element. Typographic prints can be used to display the message ‘safety first’.

Do accidents increase with delivery and parcel companies?

The competition is forcing many delivery companies are betting on an increasingly common formula, in order to reduce costs. It is about looking for self-employed workers, who work with their own vehicles for these companies. Now a study warns of the risks that this practice is bringing for road safety.

University College London (UCL), which conducted the research, found that 63% of self-employed drivers do not receive road safety training on how to minimize risk. In addition, 65% do not receive even the most basic security equipment, such as a safety vest (70% buy their own) and reflective tapes. The study also surveyed taxi drivers and found a very similar situation.

Up to 42% of drivers said their vehicle had been damaged as a result of a collision while working, and 10% more reported that someone had been injured. Only 25% of courier drivers claimed that their company cared about their safety while they worked.

Heather Ward of the UCL Transportation Studies Center said: “Our findings highlight that the increase of these contracts in transport companies could increase the risk factors that affect the health and safety of workers.” Among his concerns, he stresses that as there are more workers in these conditions and competition increases. They increase the number of hours they need to work and the distances they must travel to obtain a stable income.

Fatigue, especially among parcel couriers, due to overwork and the pressure of delivery time leads to frequent mistakes and collisions. “We know it’s a problem, but we do not know exactly how long it is, since not all companies have an obligation to report on the number of self-employed workers,” Ward said.

The report makes a series of recommendations to companies that use self-employed drivers:

Pay messengers for blocks of time, instead of delivered packages. In doing so, they must take into account the time necessary to travel safely within the speed limits, taking into account that they must perform administrative functions, such as scanning codes and signing the receiver of the package.

Do not allow mobile phones to cause distractions. Most workers currently receive orders through a smart phone application.

The Society for the Prevention of Accidents to ensure that the conclusions of the study of UCL are worrying, considering the rise of this type of work. It should be added that in the United Kingdom (as in Spain). One third fatal accident involves someone who was at work at that time.

Companies of this type should have programs to minimize risks to road safety (drivers and other road users should wear safety clothing), which carry their business, without a doubt. And maybe we should all have more understanding when we receive an order that we have made online with a couple of hours late. That would also help.

“At nine I wanted to enter a group of 90 tourists”

The new municipal regulation that prohibits -both Friday and Saturdays- the visits of organized groups of more than 15 people in the Santa Caterina Market of Barcelona entered yesterday into force. In the morning, the only guard of the infrastructure knew that his function began to acquire, each time, more attribution. And soon he had to show his skills according to the new regulations. “At 9.00 in the morning a group of more than 90 people has been presented and I have had to tell them that they could not enter,” informed the guard with the authority that gave him a reflective vest, a truncheon and handcuffs.

The person in charge of market security admitted that he had not had any problem with the group: “I think they came from a cruise ship” and as he explained, they quickly understood the message and in an orderly manner abandoned access to a market where the exoticism they seek Tourists are not only at the stops but also on the deck. The roof draws an amalgam of colors inspired by the modernist technique that the architects Enric Miralles and Benedetta Tagliabue placed with the purpose of opening the infrastructure to the whole city and turning it into a magnet! A purpose that has successfully opened the market not only for the rest of the neighborhoods but, apparently, to the whole world. Such is its power of attraction that it has had to be stopped.

Since yesterday, on Fridays and Saturdays between April and October, large groups have access to Santa Caterina. The City Council has taken this decision with the intention of preserving the current market model before tourism allegedly takes over the space expelling customers from the corridors.

The watchman knows many of the guides because the market, although central, is not one of the largest and has a little more than 60 stops, few corridors and enough familiar faces to highlight the intruders.

The new norm is more extensive. The guard will be alert that the groups do not obstruct the corridors or prevent the approach of the clients to the stops. According to the City Council reports, a concentration of 15 people in these corridors is sufficient to prevent the normal flow of people inside the facility.

The controller has more functions, including inviting those who touch or manipulate food and exposed products with the aim of taking photographs or those who are eating or drinking in space not allowed to leave.

“There are some tourists that I always have to call their attention. There are those who have the habit of touching everything and even stick the nail to the fruit or fish and then the paradise is angry and rightly so “, says the watchman.

The regulations seem to have been good between paradise and customers. And that there are some steps that seem to have changed the chip and now there are stalls selling exclusively prepared Japanese rice and fish, sushi, or pizzas and take away preparations. There is even one that sells souvenirs.

“Barcelona is full of tourists but in the market I have never had problems. This is not like La Boqueria, “says a customer who, after making the purchase of traditional stops, goes directly to the supermarket at the back of the facility.

The fishermen are totally in agreement with the new regulations, also the person in charge of Menuts Toni, who claims to feel more than once “surrounded”. “You feel a true helper, some visitors are very kind, others not so much. Some people surprise you and as they come to apartments they sometimes buy you. But the truth is that not everything is bad, because we also sell more to restaurants where tourists go. “he admits.

Safety vests become necessary in California where fires become “normal”

On 8th December, a fire approaches the Lake Casitas area near Ojai, California. Strong Santa Ana winds which are extremely dry down slope winds that affect coastal Southern California in fall and winter, have been feeding major wildfire all week, destroying hundreds of houses and forcing tens of thousands of people to run away from their homes. Some of them wear reflective clothing when running.

Jerry Brown, one of California’s Governors said that climate change has pushed weather to the most extreme. And the US western state must prepare well for a constant threat of wildfire which is a “new normal”. According to released statistics, there are six massive wild fires burning in California, destroying more than 708.2 square kilometers and 793 structures last week.

Except the unusually forceful and sustained Santa Ana winds (knew as “devil wind” for propagating regional wildfire.), a hot & dry fire season extending into Christmas in Southern California, has led to the widespread and devastating fire. So people should learn how to protect themselves in the hot, dry & dangerous season.

Preparing a reflective vest is not a bad choice. It can help you easily be found in fire and flame. When the fire is happening, you can wear it when running.

Local Police, denounced by UGT

The Union of Local Police of the UGT Ceuta denounces that one week after the start of the Selective Training Course of the 15 applicants to join the Local Police, the students have not yet been provided with practices of the safety clothing. On the first day, students arrived at their training and were given a reflective vest that identified them as members of the Police.

From the trade union center do not understand that the uniformity of these aspiring officials has not been anticipated in advance, when it has been planned that the training consists of a theoretical and practical part.

“This union has learned that it has been provided with different reflective materials to students, but currently lack pants and boots something essential. We remind you that we are a body of civil and uniformed nature, as established in the Regulation of the Local Police of the Autonomous City of Ceuta in its article 32. “he said.

The union lists a situation of “sloppiness”, the fact of not having equipped the students with this training course and request that it be reversed as soon as possible.

They also reminded the Minister of the Interior, Jacob, “that we will always defend the rights of our comrades at all costs.”

They organized a Reflective Safety Day

Education in the field of safety of unprotected road users is a very important element in raising children and adolescents as well as adults. Therefore, the Primary School located on the busy provincial road for many years, together with the local government and many institutions, undertakes effective activities in this area, the effect of which is even the creation and functioning of one of the most modern communication towns in Poland.

It is here that the finals of the Nationwide Safety Tournament in Road Traffic take place. Next to the town there is a bike path under EUROVELO4.

For several years now, students of the school have undertaken numerous activities among the local community for safety, including the use of reflective vests and reflective tapes by both pedestrians and cyclists.

Every year, the school takes part in the competition titled “Reflective School” trying to undertake innovative activities encouraging to increase the safety of unprotected road users.

One of the elements of organized “Reflective Safety Day” was the Picnic in the Communications Town called “Wear reflections, shine with example” and “Reflective March” through the streets with banners that encourage residents to use reflective materials. In the march along with students and teachers also went to the school head Angelika, secretary of the commune Drina Lesser, chairman of the commune council Drina Roman and other invited guests. The march took place under the honorary patronage of the Commune Head of Drina Jan Pataki.
