Below we present what to look for in the car before leaving and what items to take with you to get there safely and without nerves.

What to check (running gear): is there a spare wheel in the car? Are there any tools needed to change the wheel? Is the lowering of the suspended spare wheel working? Is it possible to loosen the bolts in the wheels? In what condition are the tires? Are the brakes “holding”? is the handbrake blocked? Is there any play in the suspension and bearings?

What to check (drive train): is the engine overheating? What is the engine oil level? Does the clutch slip? Are the wrists knocking? What is the condition of the accessory belt? How is the exhaust attached?

To have quick access to it, it is better not to put it deep in a packed trunk. The toolbox should contain the following items:

Rainfall, fast dusk, and morning mists are inherent elements of the autumn weather. Changeable weather conditions combined with road bravado can contribute to fatal accidents. Therefore, we appeal to drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists to behave responsibly on the road.

The advent of the autumn weather has made road conditions more unpredictable and dangerous. Frequent rainfall, but also falling leaves make the road wet and slippery, and the braking distance is significantly longer. Remember that these conditions are often just as dangerous as snow and ice. Therefore, we appeal to everyone, both drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians, to exercise particular caution and prudence.

Remember that exceeding the speed limit and not maintaining a safe distance from the vehicle in front, combined with a slippery surface, significantly increases the braking distance. In extreme cases, the driver may skid and lose control of the car. In such conditions, overtaking, passing, and cornering can be very dangerous.

Be especially careful near pedestrian crossings. We also address a special appeal to pedestrians not to enter the crossing at the last moment, directly in front of an oncoming vehicle. Even at a pedestrian crossing, make sure that the driver has time to brake. Of course, it is the pedestrian who has priority at the crossing, but here the principle of limited trust applies.

Every pedestrian and cyclist should also remember their safety and make sure they are visible. A reflective vest, a key ring, a wristband, or even an ordinary flashlight will make it easier to be seen by an oncoming driver while driving on a dimly lit road.

As a reminder: every pedestrian walking on the road outside built-up areas after dusk must have a reflector placed in a visible way for drivers. Although road traffic regulations do not require the use of vests and reflective elements in a built-up area, they significantly improve visibility. They give drivers valuable time to react correctly – often saving health and lives.

To ensure road safety, Inowrocław County financed the purchase of several thousand reflective vests and reflective elements. They are distributed by police officers who carry out the actions and hand them over to road users. Come and equip yourself and your children with reflective elements.

A reflective preventive stand with reflectors will be organized on Thursday (26/11/20) from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the District Police Headquarters in Inowrocław at Toruńska Street. Policewomen will hand them over to the residents. Don’t miss the opportunity, come, and take care of your safety!

This type of preventive action by the police is aimed at preventing road accidents. Therefore, equipping pedestrians and cyclists with vests, badges, and reflective tapes is to protect them and raise awareness that they can affect their safety. Remember that a driver can see a pedestrian equipped with reflectors even from a distance of several hundred meters. Then it will safely pass him.

Police warn drivers against recklessness and driving too fast

Failure to adjust the speed to traffic conditions is a factor that causes the loss of control over the vehicle, which may result in a serious collision with another vehicle or hitting a pedestrian.

When sitting behind the wheel of a vehicle, we should be aware that we are responsible not only for our safety but also for the life and health of other road users. Let’s avoid recklessness and risky behavior that lead to tragedy. We should also remember to observe the road and its surroundings, especially in the area of pedestrian crossings. According to the regulations, when approaching a pedestrian crossing, the driver is obliged to exercise particular caution and give way to pedestrians on the crossing.

We appeal for prudence and common sense on the roads, but also culture and kindness towards other road users. We remind young managers that it does not pay to sacrifice their lives and put others at risk to experience moments of emotions and impress their peers.

The current season is favorable for two-wheeler users

We remind motorcyclists, mopeds, and cyclists that, like pedestrians, they are unprotected road users and, in their case, disregarding traffic regulations can lead to serious consequences.

Cyclists should ensure that they are visible on the road, even in nice weather. A reflective vest and functional lights make drivers see the cyclist in advance, which allows them to safely overtake. In contrast, wearing a helmet is the most effective way to relieve head injuries resulting from both bicycle, moped, and motorbike accidents. Let’s also take care of the proper technical condition of your two-wheeler.

Reflectors intended for road users are a gift of the Starosty in Nakło. They are to improve road safety in the autumn and winter season

There are 250 reflective vests and 400 shiny bands. Reflectors were bought by the County Office in Nakło and handed over to the police to be used during activities carried out on the county’s routes.

“Due to the prevailing pandemic, it was impossible to officially hand over the luminous elements, but this very useful gift has already found its way to the unit in Nakło,” assures the subcommands. Justyna Andrzejewska, press officer of the KPP in Nakło.

As we learn – policemen from KPP in Nakło will soon start handing over the received reflectors to those who are least visible on the routes in autumn and winter, i.e. pedestrians and cyclists.

“Wearing any luminous elements always increases visibility on the road and thus improves safety,” remind the officers.
