10 mistakes not to do if the car stops on the highway

If you remain applauded during a journey, you should not lose your temper and know how to behave, an error could have serious consequences. These are potentially dangerous situations, especially if in the dark of the evening or night, the reflective vest is necessary for safety, often dealing with non-illuminated sections and the speed is much higher than the city streets.

  1. DO NOT MISS THE CALM

Staying stuck is always annoying, even worse if you are traveling with your family and the car loaded with luggage. The first advice is to maintain calm and clarity, we must quickly think about what to do to get in safety and not become a danger to other drivers. So stay calm and try to cheer your passengers, especially if there are children on board, a crisis of collective panic could lead to wrong maneuvers or actions.

  1. NEVER PUSH THE CAR

If traveling on the highway the car should fail, it will hardly stop suddenly, unless some serious mechanical failure. If the car is switched off during the march, we use the embrace to reach or get as close as possible to the emergency lane or if possible, an emergency stop. Never get out of the car with the intent to push it, it would put at risk their own and others’ safety. Better turn on the four arrows, take cover behind the guardrail (always come down from the right side of the car and pay attention to the viaducts) and signal to the cars that come along the possible roadway occupied by the damaged vehicle.

  1. HIGH VISIBILITY VEST

When it is necessary to get off the car stationary on the roadway or on the emergency lane and in any case outside the inhabited areas, at night and in conditions of poor visibility, it is compulsory to wear a high visibility vest or reflective shoulder straps. Since the obligation also applies to passengers who have to leave the car temporarily. The jacket must always be worn, even if you plan to get out of the car for a few seconds. The advice, given the low cost of protection, is to keep at least two vests aboard and store them in a place easy to reach, perhaps in the pockets of the doors and one on each side. Failure to comply with the obligation is sanctioned up to € 169 and a reduction of 2 points on the license.

  1. THE TRIANGLE THIS UNKNOWN

Beyond the reflective vest is mandatory to have on board an approved type triangle. Keep in mind that the triangle is usually stored inside the boot, often in the spare wheel well, so if you travel with a car full of luggage, access is problematic. If you have to leave the car quickly, first you can secure the passengers behind the guardrail and maybe later retrieve it while another passenger, wearing the high visibility vest, acts as a warning to the cars that arrive.

  1. EMERGING THE ROAD

If our car has stopped during the march, it will be difficult to restart it; it less than being mechanical and having spare parts and tools on board; there are few operations and interventions that we can carry out in the hope of resuming the march. Keep in mind that a car on the edge of the carriageway or in an emergency lane is still a potential hazard and must be removed as soon as possible and in any case within three hours of being stopped.

  1. CALLING THE ROAD RESCUE

Therefore, you need to call an emergency service and request the dispatch of a tow truck, which will remove the car and allow us to repair in a safer place of the road. Given the costs of the service, it is certainly convenient to take out insurance with one of the many companies that provide the roadside assistance service.

  1. KNOW YOUR POSITION

When calling the roadside assistance it is essential to know and communicate the exact point where you are with the car. You can take advantage of the progressive hexametrical signs placed on the left side of the roadway, these report every 100 meters kilometers and hundreds of meters (in Roman numbers) traveled from the beginning of the motorway section or missing at the end of the motorway if traveled from the point end. Using a Smartphone, if you are in an area covered by the operator, you can send the rescuers the exact location using the GPS if present in the terminal.

  1. AUTOSTOP FORBIDDEN

Once you have left the car and if you are traveling alone, you might be tempted to ask another driver for a ride and maybe leave our car with the four arrows and the triangle in place. Know that it is a dangerous mistake and is also prohibited by the Highway Code, to stop a motorist for a ride would create a potentially dangerous situation for traffic and it is easy to imagine the consequences of a rear-end collision.

  1. PREVENT TROUBLES AND MISCELLANEOUS

A sudden failure can occur on any car, but on a car in perfect working order, the odds are certainly minor. Therefore, it is advisable to check your car carefully, check the levels, the battery efficiency, and proceed with a possible change of oil and filters.

10 A KIT TO KEEP IN CAR

In addition to mandatory signaling devices, it is a good idea to have on board an emergency kit, simple but useful tools that you need to have at your fingertips. The ideal safety kit should include a flashlight with batteries, disposable gloves, battery cables, a set of spare bulbs for the light clusters, a first aid box, a set of tools, of the adhesive tape (it is useful to fix something that has broken in place). It is convenient to equip your car with one or more USB sockets to allow you to charge cell phones if necessary, perhaps taking care to always leave a cable suitable for charging on board.

Hunting safety: “It’s never too much!”

The topic of hunting safety is increasingly current. There are more risk even the hunters wear the safety vest. The market adapts itself and even the habits of the hunters declare war on the always-fearful “tragic fatalities.”

In recent years in the hunting world, a bizarre and paradoxical phenomenon is being observed: there are less and less “guns,” but increasingly crowded. As many new levers do not replace our old men and many hunters have been oriented, for pleasure or necessity, towards the hunted boar hunt. The cyclopean human agglomerates that condense around the black beast can exceed one hundred units, especially in the “jokes-event” of some fanatic-hunting companies. The word SAFETY rebounds from mouth to mouth from the megaphone of every self-respecting headgear to the last post.

At first, they were the reflective jackets, then more and more accessories, from the hat to the scarf. Now it is difficult to find on the market a garment that is not visible through the leaves and leaves, just for a hinge or an insert. The market has absorbed what the hunting world is trying to assimilate, overcoming the aversion for certain materials and colors that are not “wild.”

Who has not seen with surprise a post a kilometer away, thanks to his orange jacket that led to our conscience the existence of a person in flesh and blood wherever our eyes could ever see it? In addition, what catastrophic consequences have been thwarted when, with the finger already on the trigger, the orange on the dog or its driver dazzled us, where we expected rather the long-awaited wild boar?

Let us face it: the high-visibility technology for someone could also be not very “aesthetic” but it is definitely functional and sustainable. In this regard, not only clothing and buffets but also the same weapons are proposed by the gun industry with orange polymer stockings or with fluorescent inserts on the stock and the rod that guarantee total visibility.

The gun industry does not offer us only high visibility. Today we come to meet us offering weapons more reliable and distracting: it is an example of the “manual cocking lever Hand Cocking”, which allows with a simple gesture of thumb to disarm the springs of the dog making the weapon practically exhausted ( and not only with the trigger locked) in the movements in the spot. The “security” revolution has not spared even the precious auxiliaries: high-visibility garments protect them from the sharp defenses of wild boars and from the dangerous oversights in the thick of the bush. In addition, in this case, the orange inserts are not just an accessory but also a form of coherence on the articulated security discourse. Here we go again; the password for hunting cannot be another. Everything else (passion, fun, friendship) comes a little later. The bag is never empty when we bring home health and life!

High visibility vest mandatory on board

A government decree will oblige motorcyclists to bring along the already widespread reflective vest on cars and trucks starting from 1 January.

With the decree number 514/2015, last May 7, the French government introduced the obligation for all motorcyclists (including quad and three wheel pilots) to have on board a high visibility vest while they are driving.

Naturally, there is no obligation to wear it, even if the hi visibility clothing culture for safety reasons, especially in the city, is more common than in Italy. However, simply to take it with you to use it, similarly to what happens with cars and trucks (in the photo the campaign for transalpine safety, testimonial of the fashion icon Karl Lagerfeld) in the event of an emergency stop if you have to get off the vehicle at the side of the road.

A maneuver does not affect us. However, remember to bring safety vest with you that you normally leave by car if you plan trips to the French land starting from 1 January…

North-wave safety clothing insulates you from the elements

When the crudest autumn arrives and the mercury begins to descend, each cyclist is questioned before his closet how many layers to wear and safety clothing before leaving to face a new training day on a bicycle.

The protection against cold, water and wind is necessary but, at the same time, wearing clothes that are too thick or that do not transpire can bother us on our way out. With the North wave Extreme H2O jacket, you can find the compromise between protections, breathability and fit to enjoy what you like the most despite the cold, wind, rain or whatever put in front. The Extreme H2O jacket can be found in two versions with the same technical and construction characteristics but one with long sleeves for temperatures between 5 and 15 degrees and another with short sleeves for use between 8 and 18 degrees.

To ensure not only protection but also an aerodynamic fit, the Extreme H2O is made with the H2O Flex membrane. This flexible membrane is integrated into the reflective fabric of 3 layers so that the garment fits perfectly to the body, acts as a protective shield against the inclemency (supports a water column of 10,000 mm.) In addition, allows eliminating the humidity generated by the effort physical keeping dry at all times.

The ergonomic concept of the jacket is taken to the extreme thanks to an aerodynamic design and a fit to the body as if it were a second skin. In this way, the cold air stays out and does not affect you in your effort. It is a jacket but it fits like a jersey, even in the area of the neck designed especially to work in race position and thus avoid any aerodynamic brake.

On the other hand, always thinking about visibility and safety, North-wave has inserted wide reflective bands on the sleeves and the front and back of the trunk to be seen from all angles despite low light conditions and poor visibility. To complete the good design of the garment, North-wave has arranged a longer back that protects the cyclist from splashes caused by the rear wheel when rolling on wet roads.

High visibility colors for the Fluorescent collection

The Czech firm of technical safety clothing for cyclists introduces its Fluorescent collection in its renewed autumn-winter catalog, made up of colorful garments designed to improve the cyclist’s visibility and protect him from the most adverse weather conditions. The collection consists of culottes, jersey, sleeves, leg loops, and boot covers, all with yellow fluorine as the predominant color and the membrane as a hallmark.

The main protagonist of the Fluorescent collection by Kales Sportswear is the membrane that gives name to the garments. A reflective fabric offers protection against rain and wind while maintaining stable body temperature, ideal to cope with the hostile external conditions of the coldest months of the year. As a remarkable aspect, this membrane is not only present in culottes and jersey as is usual; also in sleeves, leg loops (short and long) and boot covers.

Regarding the design of the garments, the jersey arrives at the stores in full-zip version with short sleeves, three back pockets, and reflective motifs to complement its showy yellow fluorine color. The culottes are also short, with Endurance Harmonium elastic padding tested in competition and external reflective motifs. The price of the set remains at € 129.90 for both garments, available in six sizes to choose.

As a perfect complement to the main equipment, Kales Sportswear offers the rider a set of sleeves, leg loops and boot covers, in all cases with windproof and waterproof membrane and high visibility yellow color. The price of these accessories stays at € 43.90 for the sleeves and short legs, € 62.90 for the long legs and € 52.90 for the boot covers.

The local police will equip new safety vest

The police force will renews the uniforms, weapons, ammunition and acquire bulletproof safety vests. The network allows a coordinated response of the security forces to fires or attacks.

The Local Police has joined the Emergency Radio communication System of the State, Side, which facilitates coordination with security forces and other teams, such as the National Police, Civil Guard, General Directorate of Traffic, DGT, and the Military Emergency Unit, UME, among others.

The announcement was made by the mayor of Caceres at the headquarters of the local police. Since this company is responsible for the implementation and maintenance of this service, it happens throughout the national territory. Guillermo explained that Side is a digital radio communication network «of the State, which operates Telephonic and based on the tetragon standard» like that used by other European countries such as France or Switzerland, set up by the Ministry of the Interior and that covers everything the country. The network is “private, completely outside the networks for public use, a frequency band that is owned by the Ministry is used, which ensures privacy and has a total availability, virtually never falls when there are catastrophes or emergencies”, added Santa in safety clothing. The network, therefore, facilitates voice and secure data communications and quality in all types of situations, because it uses a frequency band different from commercial radio networks, which in turn prevents them from being intervened by external agents.

This network facilitates “that each body functions in an independent manner, in this case the Local Police, the National Police, the Civil Guard, but allows much greater coordination in an emergency situation or lack of security,” said the director of Telephonic in Extremadura, as well as facilitating the location of terminals. The Ministry of the Interior opens this network to incorporate other administrations. The municipality is the first one that has adhered to Extremadura, where the Board uses it for the 112 Emergency and Emergency Care Center and the Extremadura Health Service. For Elena Nevada, with the incorporation of the local police of Caceres into this system, “the service and the response to the citizen is improved and, therefore, to continue advancing in security”.

In particular, the provision to the local police of Caceres has consisted of 51 terminals, 50 of them portable that will carry the agents, and one fixed, two units of vehicles and a Terminal Positioning System. Telephonic has been awarded the support of this service, as well as the supply of devices, the maintenance of the service and the equipment for four years. The cost of this system has been 165,000 Euros, which according to Elena Nevada, “to continue to improve the security of the city and, above all, the response capacity of our local police.” The mayor also stressed that Caceres “is the safest city in Spain and this is due not only to the media but also to the people behind this public service”, in recognition of the work of the local police, although “there is no never lift your foot ».

Likewise, in the next few days the agents will be given bulletproof vests, which will be in use before the end of the year. As explained by Mateo, the council “has made a first consignment of 40,000 Euros” for its acquisition, “the goal is that between 2017 and 2018 the entire workforce, when they go out to the street to do operational services, are gifted with protective vests. Although Caceres is one of the safest cities in Spain, Rafael Mateo believes that, at an anti-terrorist level, 4 “nobody is on the sidelines of a possible attack.”

The use of reflective vests will be controlled every Friday

The National Road Safety Unit and the Municipality of Montevideo initiated a traffic safety campaign aimed at motorcyclists on Friday. The measures include the free delivery of reflective safety vests. It is an educational campaign whose objective to prevent accidents and reduce the number of people injured and killed in accidents.

As reported every Friday in May, inspectors of the commune will be controlling the use of reflective garments in different points of the capital. The campaign aims to spread the obligatory nature of these garments as established by the latest transit law that began in March this year, Unease’s secretary Pablo told the newspaper El Observatory.

Although fines are already applied to drivers who do not wear reflective vests on national routes, this still does not happen in Montevideo. Isthmuses explained that the fines would begin to be applied in the capital starting in July, once the maximum term established by law for the dissemination of these new requirements has expired.

Inspectors of the quartermaster will be distributed in various points of the city, performing the usual documentation control for motorcyclists and the like. The controls will be carried out every Friday in two shifts: between 8 and 12 o’clock and between 3 and 7 o’clock.

During these checks, the inspectors will inform the motorcyclists about the obligatory nature of these reflective garments, and will even facilitate access to them for those drivers who do not have it.

The use of this security element is mandatory for those who travel by motorcycle or similar, as stipulated in article 7 of Law 19.061. This indicates that the “permanent use during its circulation in all public roads” of vest, jacket or reflective bands. If not used, the fine amounts to about 403 pesos (0.5 resettable units) per person.

The Local Police will have new safety vests before this quarter

The winning company is taking the measures of the police officers who will use them.

The Local Police of Zaragoza will have new protection vests at the end of this quarter given that currently the winning company is taking the measures to the agents, informs the police.

As stated in the press release of the Local Police, this is one of the issues that have been addressed during the meeting that the Councilor delegated by the City Council, Elena Ginner, has had with the body’s commanders and their union representatives.

Remember the Local Police in its statement that the incorporation of the new safety vest to the equipment of the agents will be “imminent”, since the contract for it was signed a few days ago and currently the winning company is taking the measures of the police that will do use of them.

In addition, the union representatives of the police have advanced to Ginner some of the proposals of its ‘Action Plan for a new security model in the city of Zaragoza’.

In the press release, the Police stress that this proposal, whose first draft was delivered at the end of last July, aims to “modernize and develop new public policies in the field of security for citizens.” All this has occurred during a meeting that has served for the two parties to exchange their views on the measures they have adopted and will be adopted within the Local Safety Board, whose last meeting took place this week in order to start orchestrate the security of the Pillar fiestas.

In addition, during the meeting, the celebration of a course on ‘Community Police’ has been defined. Next Monday will begin a session in which specialists from other police forces, universities and the Zaragoza City Council will intervene. Its objective is to find the most efficient ways and safety equipments to respond to new security demands, derived largely from jihadist terrorism.

Decree that reflective vest in safety kit of all vehicles

The initiative will take effect on January 1, 2016, considering an infraction for not wearing the reflective vest in the car that will constitute a slight fault.

A driver is exposed to being run over when he descends from his vehicle because of a technical breakdown, especially if the emergency occurs during low light or at night. Faced with this problem, the Ministry of Transport and Telecommunications announced a new decree that will require the wearing of a reflective vest on the vehicle, in order to make the driver more visible in case he must descend from the vehicle to attend an emergency.

On the occasion, the Minister of Transport, Andrés Gomez-Lobo, explained “the lack of visibility is the main factor that affects the occurrence of the abuses in low-light hours, so we are promoting the use of reflective material for protect people’s lives and prevent accidents.” In addition, Minister Gomez-Lobo called for self-care: “Before getting off the vehicle in case of emergency, put on the reflective vest. It will make you visible and it can save your life, “said the minister.

The executive secretary of Cohasset, Francisca said, “More time of vision implies a greater reaction time of the motorist. As an example: a person is visible at night at only 40 meters, which means that a driver walking at 65 kilometers per hour could not stop in time. With the reflective vest on, the person is visible from more than 150 meters and with high lights even from about 400 meters. ”

This new decree adds the reflective vest to the other safety elements that must be found in each motorized vehicle to deal with emergencies, such as the safety triangle. The high visibility vest must contain both fluorescent and retro reflective material, and must always be carried in a location on the vehicle that is accessible from inside, such as the glove compartment, so that the driver gets off the vehicle and wearing the vest.

The decree will come into effect on January 1, 2016, considering an infraction for not wearing the vest in the car that will constitute a slight fault, which translates into a fine of 0.2 to 0.5 UTM.

FIGURES

In the last ten years, more than 6,000 people have been killed in Chile and only in 2013; the number of pedestrians who died in traffic accidents was 631. According to international experiences, the use of reflective elements significantly reduces the number of people killed.
