How to stay safe on the road

September 29 students from the first grades of Primary School No. 4 Nicolas Copernicus participated in the “Safe Way to School” campaign. Police officers in safety vest carried out a well-organized action.

During the meeting, the first graders had the opportunity to check and broaden their knowledge of traffic regulations. The students were eager to answer the questions asked and listened to the lectures of police officers with interest. Everyone received reflective bands and promised to wear them always with them, especially during the evening autumn walks.

The police officers made the students a huge surprise bringing with them a large, mascot-like – POLMISIA. The children were very pleased with the presence of the mascot, who along with them set off to the streets. The students together with the police officers checked the acquired knowledge in practice. Dressed in reflective vests, they passed the belts using the current traffic rules.

The first graders also arrived at Mug, where they were greeted by the Mayor, presented with sweets and wishes for a safe road to school.

Fluorescent motorcycle vests: What is the point?

This will only be surprising to the departments concerned, but here is another proof of the lack of usefulness of the latest CNSR recommendation regarding the fluorescent safety vest. In addition, we do not say it, or a pro-motorcycle organization, far from it.

On June 21, the National Road Safety Council gave a layer about the “safety” vest for bikers. The recommendation in question concerns the use of this retro-reflective device, which is supposed to avoid over-accidents in the event of a fall in low visibility or a night stop, with the threat of a fine of € 35.

Those who want to revel in the details of this obligation that does not say his name will be able to consult our dedicated news. The others, wondering if the transport of a vest under the saddle to quickly put it on after a fall will lower the vulnerability of motorized two-wheelers, will have their answer thanks to … Vinci Auto routes.

If you do not see the truck, will you see the biker?

On Twitter, the company Vinci has announced that two of their intervention vehicles were struck on Tuesday. With a more than conspicuous decoration, combining fluorescent colors, rotating beacons and multiple retro-reflective bands, it seems incredible that a motorist cannot see such a van and end up crashing into it.

Who sit at the CNSR, do you really think that imposing the transport of a motorcycle, or scooter vest (without sanctioning its absence, such as the breathalyzer) is more urgent and will save more lives than the fight against the causes of such collisions? Between two orders of speed cameras, could we not, for example, put in place controls, not speed only, but awakening? After all, who hits a fluorescent yellow truck for lack of vigilance will he pay more attention to a biker with high visibility vest, visually much less impressive, even painted yellow. The example given by Vinci Auto routes today can make us doubt…

The same motorway companies had already published statistics going against general communication, pointing to drowsiness and drugs as major causes of accidents on their network.

North-wave safety clothing insulates you from the elements

When the crudest autumn arrives and the mercury begins to descend, each cyclist is questioned before his closet how many layers to wear and safety clothing before leaving to face a new training day on a bicycle.

The protection against cold, water and wind is necessary but, at the same time, wearing clothes that are too thick or that do not transpire can bother us on our way out. With the North wave Extreme H2O jacket, you can find the compromise between protections, breathability and fit to enjoy what you like the most despite the cold, wind, rain or whatever put in front. The Extreme H2O jacket can be found in two versions with the same technical and construction characteristics but one with long sleeves for temperatures between 5 and 15 degrees and another with short sleeves for use between 8 and 18 degrees.

To ensure not only protection but also an aerodynamic fit, the Extreme H2O is made with the H2O Flex membrane. This flexible membrane is integrated into the reflective fabric of 3 layers so that the garment fits perfectly to the body, acts as a protective shield against the inclemency (supports a water column of 10,000 mm.) In addition, allows eliminating the humidity generated by the effort physical keeping dry at all times.

The ergonomic concept of the jacket is taken to the extreme thanks to an aerodynamic design and a fit to the body as if it were a second skin. In this way, the cold air stays out and does not affect you in your effort. It is a jacket but it fits like a jersey, even in the area of the neck designed especially to work in race position and thus avoid any aerodynamic brake.

On the other hand, always thinking about visibility and safety, North-wave has inserted wide reflective bands on the sleeves and the front and back of the trunk to be seen from all angles despite low light conditions and poor visibility. To complete the good design of the garment, North-wave has arranged a longer back that protects the cyclist from splashes caused by the rear wheel when rolling on wet roads.

The use of reflective vests will be controlled every Friday

The National Road Safety Unit and the Municipality of Montevideo initiated a traffic safety campaign aimed at motorcyclists on Friday. The measures include the free delivery of reflective safety vests. It is an educational campaign whose objective to prevent accidents and reduce the number of people injured and killed in accidents.

As reported every Friday in May, inspectors of the commune will be controlling the use of reflective garments in different points of the capital. The campaign aims to spread the obligatory nature of these garments as established by the latest transit law that began in March this year, Unease’s secretary Pablo told the newspaper El Observatory.

Although fines are already applied to drivers who do not wear reflective vests on national routes, this still does not happen in Montevideo. Isthmuses explained that the fines would begin to be applied in the capital starting in July, once the maximum term established by law for the dissemination of these new requirements has expired.

Inspectors of the quartermaster will be distributed in various points of the city, performing the usual documentation control for motorcyclists and the like. The controls will be carried out every Friday in two shifts: between 8 and 12 o’clock and between 3 and 7 o’clock.

During these checks, the inspectors will inform the motorcyclists about the obligatory nature of these reflective garments, and will even facilitate access to them for those drivers who do not have it.

The use of this security element is mandatory for those who travel by motorcycle or similar, as stipulated in article 7 of Law 19.061. This indicates that the “permanent use during its circulation in all public roads” of vest, jacket or reflective bands. If not used, the fine amounts to about 403 pesos (0.5 resettable units) per person.

Obligation to reflective jacket for prostitutes

Prostitutes dressed as the workers of the road maintenance, wearing jacket and trousers with the classic reflective strips. And the requirement is that the City wants to impose, by ordinance, to sex workers to fight an ever-present phenomenon on the roads of the area.

The document will match the one already in force since last April in a town of Paves. The ‘Fireflies’ and that Garran are plucked without clothes predicted, will be fined with EUR 500 to local police, the police and Road. In the case the prostitute is surprised by two times without reflective fabric jacket and pants will activate at his signaling load in the prefecture.

“I have sent a copy of the draft to the captain of Giancarlo and the prefect – says the Deputy Mayor – we are almost in the pipeline and ready to draw up the final copy of the document. My hope is to be able to publish the ordinance, and thus get the entry into force of the same, by the beginning of September.”

The goal of the City is clearly to discourage prostitution on the territory as four years now takes place with the anti ‘fireflies’ ordinance provides for fines of 500 Euros by tenants. One measure, the latter, renewed two months ago and adopted in July by the neighboring municipality, in a contrast to prostitution campaign that should appeal shortly also the territory of Dover. Saturday night the commander of the local police Gitano Pampanga and Sniggle himself were on patrol along the Pauline and neighboring streets under the Ordinance. It has been sanctioned for 500 EUR a 40-year old creams surprised to bargain performance. Since the entry into force of the Ordinance local police have fined four customers. Limitations on the clothing of prostitutes will expect in particular the reflective jacket during the day.

With the dark, in addition, also it triggered the requirement for pants with reflective bands. “The professional – concludes Sniggle – are treated as employees who work on construction sites are required to wear clothes that make them clearly visible.” Shared hope farewell obliged to heels, miniskirts inguinal and the rest of the typical look of the oldest profession in the world, thought and wanted to attract customers, may discourage prostitutes from exercising in spines territory.
