6 simple tricks that will save your child’s life on the road

Perhaps the main one concerns you: remember, running across the street outside the junction, that children copy everything from their parents.

Child psychologists, as well as simply experienced people,  are confident that young children copy the behavior of adults. If the parents do not follow the rules of the road, then the children will not observe them either – at least until the school where the parents correct the mistakes, if lucky, the teachers.

When asked why a child needs to know and abide by the rules, the answer is simple: to live. And the main thing can be taught before the child begins to walk and talk. Seating the child in a child seat in the car, and fastening your seat belts, patiently explain that it is necessary for safety. You will see: in two years the baby will follow himself so that everyone in the car will be fastened, and if anyone forgets, he will definitely remind you.

But even better, children memorize the information submitted to them in the form of a game. Rules of the road – an inexhaustible theme for children’s poems, songs, games. And while traveling by car with a child, you can play the navigator: let him tell the driver’s dad what signs he sees and what they mean. Try only to condescendingly treat the mistakes of the little co-driver and do not delay the game. He will say that he is tired – let him rest. Then still practice.

Already at the age of two, a child is able to correctly name traffic lights and zebra signals, say what they are for. In three – to name many road signs and explain their meaning, at least in a primitive form.

If a child goes to kindergarten – try to draw a route from home to the garden with all intersections with him and offer him to “walk” together, “stopping” at traffic lights, before pedestrian crossings and reminding you first to look left, then go out on the road, even if it is green, but the car (or motorcycle) is approaching fast.

Watching TV is bad. But all kids love cartoons. And many modern cartoons promote the observance of traffic rules. However, not only modern. And old Soviet cartoons, which many parents themselves enjoy watching, can be turned into textbooks of correct behavior on the road. By the way, this is quite interesting. One of the best examples is “Well, wait!”. For example, the 3rd series.

The wolf is trying to ride a motorcycle with the headlights off and without a license plate, the Hare rides a bicycle on the road, although he is clearly less than 14 years old, and without a helmet. The wolf is trying to catch a motorcycle running away from him, standing on the center line of the road. A little later, he rides his motorcycle backward, holding the exhaust pipes, and the hare jumps under the lowering barrier at a railway crossing. And this is only the first two minutes of the cartoon!

Furthermore. Try to find this series on the Internet and invite your child to count together how many rules the heroes violated.

Even at kindergarten age, children begin to follow clothes, choose what to wear. Try to buy at least a few things with reflective materials, wear reflective vests with reflective tapes, hang flickers on a child’s backpack, scooter, run bike or bicycle, explain why they are needed. On bike rides, be sure to use the bike helmets and drive observing the rules. By the way, maybe you yourself have already forgotten them. So now it ‘s time to refresh them in memory.

Not all reflective elements are equally practical

Employees of the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in Kazan conducted an experiment for journalists, they showed how far in the dark a driver might notice a pedestrian. The inspectors also told which light-reflecting elements are most effective in the dark.

“These are cute reflective face stickers, which children and adults really like, unfortunately, quickly come off. Bracelets seem to be comfortable, but they tend to get lost. Plus, in order to designate a child on the roadway, at least 4 bracelets are needed – on each hand and on legs, so that the driver from afar can determine that a person is moving in front of him, and not some mysterious luminous object. The best thing is the reflective vest,” said Oksana Kononenko, senior inspector for the promotion of OGIBDD of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for Kazan.

The vest covers most of the child’s body and is very visible in the dark. It contains wide reflective tapes. Inspectors recommend combining reflective elements – wear a vest, along with bracelets, for example. Then the child will be very noticeable in the dark.

“This year, 166 road traffic accidents involving children were registered in Kazan. Unfortunately, 2 people died as a result of an accident. One of them – a 15-year-old teenager, who crossed the roadway in the dark, unfortunately, he was not marked by reflective elements. The driver did not have the opportunity to notice him in time and avoid a collision,” said Oksana Kononenko.

In order for children not to refuse to wear light-reflecting elements, inspectors recommend holding various games with them. For example, to convince a child that he will be the brightest and most noticeable. Manufacturers go to meet the buyer and put on the market “funny” reflective elements.

At the beginning of the experiment, DPS inspectors placed children with reflective stripes and adults without such stripes at a distance of 50, 100 and 150 meters. Turn on the main beam headlights of the car. An adult on 50 meters was not visible at all, which cannot be said about children.

Reflective materials glittered and 150 meters. The vests were clearly visible, but the child with the bracelets and stickers could not be noticed.

“In both cases, the vest was visibly better. Here, apparently, well, well, from afar. And if it’s just a small sticker – even it is not clear what it is,” said driver Sergey Novoseltsev.

“The vest is visible from afar and the person is immediately noticeable. Bracelets do not immediately catch the eye. When my children grow up, I will buy them such. In the suburban areas of the road it is very useful,” the driver Ilfat Islamov said.

“The experiment is timed to the ‘Safety Week’, which is held throughout Russia as part of the VI International Congress ‘Road Safety – for the Safety of Life’. And one of the key issues that experts around the world are discussing is the safety of pedestrians on the roadway. For large cities, a pedestrian hit has become a very common type of accident, especially at night. And now, when autumn has come, the early twilight, dark time in the day more. And children go to different circles, sections. And one of the most effective ways to protect children, proven in many countries, is the retro-reflective elements,” said Oksana Kononenko, senior inspector for the propaganda of OGIBDD of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for Kazan.

Results of the experiment – stickers justified themselves. Bracelets cope more or less but do not give a hundred percent picture. Best of all – a safety vest. However, the most noticeable child is the one on whose clothes there are several light-reflecting elements at once. Such a child will definitely be noticed on the road.

It should be noted that the wearing of reflective elements outside the settlements is mandatory for both adults and children. For their absence, DPS inspectors may issue a fine.

Requirements that any workwear must meet

The purpose of workwear is to protect the worker from the external factors that are harmful and dangerous to his health, with which his professional work is associated. Therefore, when choosing it, it is necessary to ensure that the product meets the following basic requirements:

Free cut. Jackets, pants, and overalls cannot limit the movement of a person. In carrying out their duties, the worker should not feel discomfort.

Functionality. To increase comfort and convenience, special protective safety clothing of an insulating type can be equipped with patch pockets, built-in pockets, webbing, snap hooks, snap-on insulation, reflective tapes, etc.

Physical properties. Special clothes should not get wet in the rain, have dirt-repellent properties, easy to wear off.

Thermal conductivity. In the cold period, the fabric protects the person from heat loss, in the summer it absorbs and removes excess moisture, and also ensures sufficient air exchange.

Wear resistance. Regardless of the types of special clothing, durable material should be used to make it. It will serve as protection from external influences and minor injuries.

Only by complying with all safety requirements, an employer can create a comfortable and safe working environment for his employees, as well as legally protect himself from possible legal consequences in case of possible accidents and injuries at work.

Safe running in the evening. What to buy in Decathlon?

Running in the evening sets in a great mood. Previously known and constantly traversed routes suddenly transform into something that can re-perpetuate every sense, while the ubiquitous darkness combined with the urban play of lights makes us become nocturnal explorers. We are fully in the role of engaging the imagination, focusing on the sounds and passing distance. But this is not an easy world to guess. It requires special equipment and appropriate behavior. What to do to make the evening skiing trips safe, but also satisfying?

The shorter autumn days are able to pick up motivation even for the most avid runners. Heavy rainfall, pervading cold and quickly falling night form a running trio that will haunt us in the coming months. It is not an easy time to maintain the will to run, and given that Egyptian darkness forcing many to monotonous training along the same lit streets, there are more obstacles than incentives. At night, thousands of runners roam the city sidewalks and train one by one. Every runner who has at least one such season knows that only the best-lit streets are interested. And the evening running traffic in their regions is not conducive to physical activity, because too many runners are too much. The accumulation of all factors means that less and less often we go to training. How to get out of this running impasse? What to do in order to make running in the evening the same pleasure as training during the day?

Going tonight training is the best possible way to de-stress after a long and tiring day. Like no other sport, running ensures the charging of internal batteries and breathes life into freezing muscles. The body will regain its fitness again, and the influx of endorphins will improve the well-being and free the head from the rush of thoughts. Everyday duties will go into oblivion, which will help us get into training faster. In addition, regular physical activity contributes to the improvement of sleep quality. Effectively rested and rested, we will wake up more willing to perform the tasks of the next day. Running in the evening will also take care of the circulatory system, improving blood flow and the work of the heart. Many studies indicate that this sport not only makes life better but also lasts longer. In addition to any doubts, there are also changes in the immune system in the runner’s body. People practicing sports are much less likely to get sick, and their enhanced immunity prevents them from catching colds or infections.

Reading such an extensive list of the advantages of running, it is not difficult to maintain the enthusiasm for training during autumn fluff. But how to continue training in the dark? How to safely navigate after dark or night?

We should take the first steps to the wardrobe and choose training clothing with reflective fabrics. Unfortunately, there are stairs that are not so easy to climb. While the producers signal that the product is equipped with reflectors, these are definitely not enough to perform the right function. Placing light reflective tapes along the bottom edge of the garment, adding a reflective logo (which made of reflective heat transfer vinyl)and element around the arms, in practice results in small batches of material visible to outside road users. In theory, we assume clothes designed for running in the evening because it does not really help much. The best way out of the situation is to check what parts of the clothes are striking. Ingenious producers are preparing special collections of clothes for the night madness. Some time ago we tested one such series of products created by the Kalenji brand, which can be purchased in the Decathlon chain stores. But most importantly, this clothing guarantees incredible visibility when running in an underexposed place. Wide stripes of flares were created, which were placed, among others on the shoulders, back, chest. Care was taken to ensure that the reflections were around. You should look around for such practically designed running clothes!

Wrocławska patented reflective strips for a stroller

The guardian of Ekostraży Wrocław invented reflective straps for strollers so that the children would be safe on the road. The idea for reflections for prams was born when Edyta Bąk, who was walking with a child in a stroller, was hit by a cyclist on the sidewalk bordering a cycle path.

The idea for reflective straps for prams was born when Edyta Bąk, who was walking with her child in a stroller, was hit by a cyclist on a sidewalk bordering a cycle path. The cyclist claimed he did not notice her. To avoid similar situations, Ms. Edyta decided to stock up on reflective accessories. Unfortunately, those available in the stores were inadequate, because they did not improve the visibility of the stroller on the road. That’s why she decided to create her own reflections.

There were fewer accidents. “There are a lot of accidents involving baby strollers, which is why I bought a cheap machine and started to learn sewing. In this way, a prototype of reflective belts for a pram was made. Thanks to them, the driver of an oncoming car will notice a cart from a distance of up to 150 meters,” says Edyta Bąk, “My belts are a better solution than all others that can be bought, because thanks to them, the stroller is clearly visible on all sides. Drivers will notice it more easily and will be able to react early.” Mrs. Edyta’s belts are very easy to use. They fit both deep and walking carts. You can download and wash them at any time, and adjust to the size of the cart. The solution also meets European ISO standards. The project is already in the Patent Office. As it turned out, no one had previously come up with a similar idea. That is why the Wroclaw guard, at the instigation of her husband, submitted her project to the Patent Office. “The research of the state of the art carried out by us showed that Edyta Bąk’s invention is a new and innovative solution. On her behalf, we made notification of reflective tapes for prams to the Polish Patent Office,” confirms Grażyna Więckowska, patent attorney at the JWP Rzecznicy Patentowi in Wrocław. Although every day Ms. Edyta deals with the protection of animals in Wroclaw’s Ekostraży, it does not interfere with the production of belts for children’s prams. After work, he returns home and realizes his idea. He announces that prototypes will not end. He wants to produce his invention on a large scale – so that as many baby prams as possible become safe on the road

Pedestrians and cyclists! Take care of your safety

In connection with the ongoing spring period and improvement of atmospheric conditions, policemen from the Department of Road Traffic.

The police are appealing to pedestrians and cyclists for caution and observance of a few basic rules.

Pedestrians and cyclists are so-called unprotected road users

This means that they are not covered like car drivers with bodywork, they do not have seat belts or airbags. Remember that pedestrians and cyclists are participants of the movement – the difference is that in the case of speeding vehicles they are completely defenseless. An accident with them involves extremely serious consequences.

The improvement of safety on the roads is a matter of priority for local police officers, which is why officers remind you of a few basic rules.

Pedestrian duties:

cross the road in places intended for this purpose, and if there are any such places, especially outside the city, be especially careful, never run abruptly on the road. Stand on the edge of the pavement, at least 30 cm from its edge, look first to the left, then to the right and once again left, when the road is free, always go straight along the shortest path, always walk across the road in the green light, when the green light flashes, wait, because the red light will turn on soon, wear reflective vests with reflective tapes, especially at dusk, when the visibility is worse, and the dark colors of the clothes make the pedestrian noticed by the driver only at the last moment. A walking person equipped with a reflective material for the driver of the vehicle is visible from a much greater distance, which allows for an earlier reaction, always walk only the left side of the road outside the built-up area to see the oncoming vehicle.

Obligation to ride on the road for bicycles:

Art. 33 of the Road Traffic Act obliges a cyclist to use the bike path if it is designated for the direction in which it is traveling. According to this record, if a one-way bicycle path is designated along the road, the obligation to move is only in one direction. Cyclists riding in the opposite direction must move on the road. The driver of a bicycle using the road for bicycles and pedestrians is obliged to exercise extreme caution and give way to pedestrians.

Cyclist on the sidewalk:

As a rule – you cannot drive on the pavement. The regulations provide for several derogations. Article 26 of the Law on Road Traffic, allows a cyclist to go on the sidewalk when:

takes care of a person under the age of 10 driving a bicycle;

the weather is bad (snow, strong wind, downpour, glaze, thick fog);

three conditions are met simultaneously:

  1. the pavement is at least two meters wide,

  1. traffic on the road is allowed at a speed of over 50 km / h (built-up area),

  1. there is no separate road for bicycles and the lane intended for them.

Child on a bicycle:

Children up to 7 years old can be transported in two ways: either by cycling in a special seat or children under 10 years old they can move independently by bike, but only under the care of an adult. An adult who looks after a child can walk next to him on the sidewalk or ride a bicycle – also on the sidewalk.

Children over 10 years old can now ride their own bike on public roads, if they have their first rights, ie. Bicycle Card.

Equipping a bike

A properly equipped bike should have one white position light at the front; at the rear one red reflector, at least one effective brake and an audible signal. It is also good to use reflective elements – they can be permanently attached to the bike or placed on bikers’ clothing. The reflectors make us visible, which is, of course, more secure.

The road trip is appealing to all road users to exercise extreme caution and comply with applicable laws because when the imagination and common sense are running out of us, it is unpleasant and often tragic.

Chemical protection and high visibility

The suit combines protection against chemicals, infectious agents and airborne solid particles with high visibility.

It consists of fluorescent orange material with silver reflective tapes. It fulfills the requirements of EN ISO 20471: 2013 for high visibility clothing.

As protective clothing with a limited service life, this suit is disposed of directly after contamination or heavy soiling. In contrast, reusable clothing must be costly cleaned and treated accordingly, so that their properties even after washing nor meet the requirements of the standard.

The suit is always available to employees new protective clothing whose fluorescent and reflective materials are completely intact. Typical applications are activities in hazardous environments in poor visibility and weather conditions, such as in the railway sector, in mining, in waste disposal, and in road construction.

Heroes in safety vests

Safety vests are helpful – but also cool? Some first graders find: no. You should take a look at bikers!

Safety vests – are not they a blessing invention? In bright red, reflective green or neon yellow and some reflective materials, they help to make sure road workers are more reliably recognized, and garbage collectors can change the side of the road more calmly. Railway workers are not allowed to go to the tracks without the eye-catcher. There is even severely separated: green is the security service. Red are the ones who are walking. Equally struggling runners look out, scurrying through the woods and meadows dressed in signal colors in the darkness that is now breaking in, in order to catch the attention of road users on the way there. And – little look back at the summer holidays – woe, you get caught on the road in Italy without the airy clothes. For every human, a neon top must be on board. In short, once the warning vest had a little the nastiness of the proletariat, today it is part of everyday life, almost like the house key and wallet.

Not everyone will find the safety vest cool

But what did you hear recently at the presentation of the new school plan? If the first graders were initially proud of the vest, which was equipped to start school, “specialists” would leave them home after just a few days. This was reported by the managing director Karl. After all, a real guy did not want to “come out” as a freshman. “I can only confirm that,” says Mayor, father of three school-age boys.

So ends the project of the ADAC Foundation, which wanted to set the security action “Accents with foresight”. Father jogs through the village with his vest, his mother rides to work, the offspring make you cool. Since all the dunning helps nothing. But wait, what is it doing around the corner? A chrome-gleaming motorcycle with a rich sound, the handlebars as high as if the stars were to be taken from the sky and with wheels like rubber rollers. The biker wears over the black leather air: a safety vest with reflective tapes. And if that is not a real guy!

Why do you have to dress like a construction manager

Welcome to a world where the orange reflective vest, the sanitary hood and the safety shoe play it “survival solutions” in urban jungle.

Three options are available for the podium pillar to prepare for the advent of the post-human – an allegory of an uncertain future that everyone, the baroque demiurge way Alessandro Michele to the minimalist convinced trend JW Anderson, dreads.

First: to enter fashion orders and to wander in this very closed circle in a dress of bure and bare-feet of tourism.

Secondly, put on his gadget glasses and his amphibian suit, and finally be the trunk on the wings of a cyborg – dragon, chameleon or humanoid with three eyes.

Tertio: sign for life in the secondary sector and get the services of the house uniform: parka and pants with reflective tapes, helmet (or hood) and

Safety shoes, all carved in traffic light colors – green, yellow, red and ripe orange.

No less doubtful aesthetically but much more prophetically than the DHL t-shirt collective released in 2016, this is the option chosen this season by Simons, anxious to denounce the reign of fake news and prepare for the reign of an all-powerful AI, dresses the woman and man Calvin Klein in a high security uniform, between the construction engineer and the firefighter of New

John Galliano at Maison Margiela, Marcia Prada and Christopher Bailey at Burberry apply the same security policy, slipping an orange vest with reflective material under a overcoat, on a mini-dress or changing the parka to a bionic stage, between the garment cosmonaut and sapper, worn with a pencil skirt and sneakers survival blanket.

With safety vests safely to school

The kick-off event of the community campaign “Safe to school – safe home” was filled on Thursday at the Jean Paul School. The school district hosted this event for new school children and their parents.

The beginning of school is an exciting event especially for the first-graders and their parents, said school director Owe villages. The action “Safe to school – safe home” exist since 1969 and has been an important concern since that time, all at the beginning of the school year, because it is about the safety on the way to school. For decades, various measures and police protection have ensured that all students come to school unscathed, emphasized Dormer. But the school also made an important contribution to the exploration of the school environment, said the school director – even if there is no complete security, said Droller to consider.

In Upper Franconia, 8584 first graders were enrolled, 3.5 percent more than in the previous year, said government vice-president Thomas Engel. Many parents remembered their own school days and whether their children could get along with the teacher or get used to school. But what can one do so that nothing happens to the children on the way to school? Engel pointed out that a whole network of Upper Franconia cares about the safety on the way to school. Professional helpers, such as the police, but also many volunteers, institutions such as the VR-Bank or companies that provide financial resources, care about the safety of the youngest.

“Children learn from their parents”

Traffic education started very early and the children first learned from their parents, Engel said. “Children see parents as role models”. And this role model of the parents is just in demand at the beginning of the school year. Safety is not just a task of the parents, but a common task.

Cobourg’s second mayor, Birgit Weber, recalled her own school enrollment in 1969 at the elementary school. Exactly this year, the campaign “Safe to school – safe home” was launched. At that time, the first years were equipped with yellow caps. In the classroom there was the subject of traffic education and in school the bicycle license was made. Since that time, a lot has happened and today the children would be equipped with throws the traffic guard and reflective vests of the ADAC.

Too many accidents

The time of starting school was a very intense time for the police, said police commissioner Thomas. For several weeks every day, several dozen school trips would be carried out, and that would be as intensive as possible. His colleagues would love to do that and pay attention to the safety of the weakest traffic participants. Last year, 32 000 traffic accidents involving 5300 wounded and 57 fatalities were recorded in Upper Franconia. But there were also school-leaving accidents, with 44 students injured and eight of them were seriously injured. This figure, according to Thomas, is too high and the police are trying to minimize it. Motorists often did not give the first-graders the necessary attention. In the area of the police headquarters Upper Franconia, there are 1645 school helpers, 745 school students, 117 school bus attendants and 511 school bus drivers, reported the police council.

Distribute over 1000 throws

The first-graders are the weakest road users in traffic, Sebastian said in his capacity as the second chairman of the watch tower. Over 1000 reflective tapes have been distributed in the city and in the district. Sebastian directed his appeal to the parents to ensure that children carry these throw consistently, because especially in the dark season, the recognizability is particularly important.

In the 2018/2019 school year, 1062 pupils, including 323 in the city and 739 in the district of Cobourg, begin their school life. The kick-off event was musically designed by Neil Stefano and Noelle from the Music School.
