A safety vest in the vehicle cabin for holiday

How to make a foreign holiday on your own axis as easily as possible?

According to the Tourist Survey conducted by the Czech Statistical Office, in 2016 our citizens aged 15 and over made 5,552,000 private foreign tours. Longer journeys (at least four nights) were 4,276,000, shorter (with one to three overnight stays) and 1,276,000. On longer journeys, they traveled 48 percent in a passenger car or motorcycle, 14 percent on a bus. Shorter journeys went even on 78% of cases; another 12% opted for a bus.

Even this summer, millions of Czechs will go on their own route to spend at least part of their holiday on a foreign destination. What to do to make the journey and stay as smooth as possible without major complications? We recommend that you pay attention to the following areas:

Technical condition of the vehicle

In addition to checking the vehicle’s technical condition, it is also necessary to remember the check of its mandatory equipment and its possible addition to the country in which we are heading. We also remember a sufficient number of safety vests. At least one vest (here for the driver) is placed in the vehicle cabin.

What about you

After all, it is not bad to write down at least two days before departure what we have to take with ourselves for a holiday – we need medicines, we also check the validity of personal documents or driving license.

Baggage and their storage

Vehicle space options are limited as well as its load capacity. Therefore, it is good to take the holidays with what is needed. “We will store the luggage of the largest and heaviest bag at the bottom of the luggage compartment. On the contrary, by the hand, we should have everything that we will necessarily need on the way. And also – to be sure – a warning triangle, first aid kit and reflective vests for the passengers, “says Roman from the Road Safety Team.

Do not forget about important documents

Do not forget what? Traveling to the EU is sufficient for a valid ID; the driver must have a valid driving license. We will not forget the health insurance card and any insurance of the costs of medical care. And we will also take a green card and a Euro form record of a traffic accident. It is definitely worth checking if we have the current telephone connection to our health insurance company and to the insurance company with which we have insured our motor vehicle. It is also a good idea to make clear what we are entitled to from a motor insurance policy – for example, free assistance in the event of a breakdown or extraction in the event of an accident. In case of a serious complication, it is good to have a telephone number of the Czech embassy in the respective country.

The driver must be fit

The driver must be fit. It is up to him how safe and pleasant the journey is for the co-attackers. Before the ride he should have enough rest. And while driving, remember the regular breaks. Let’s say every two and a half hours do not harm the rest for twenty minutes. Beware of fatigue. Its effect is similar to that of alcohol. The heavily tired driver is just as dangerous as the one who just drank two hard alcohol booties. The likelihood of a fatal accident is increased 7 times. “Fatigue is responsible for up to 10 percent of all road accidents, and motorways are up to 20 percent. The most dangerous is the period from midnight to 4pm. However, it is less known that we may be surprised by the fatigue even during the day – most often between the second and the fourth afternoon, “warns Roman. If it’s a little bit possible, it’s good to rotate for longer rides.

Travel must be safe and relaxing

Even the journey to the desired destination and it is part of our holiday. So why not really enjoy it? For all, it should be safe and comfortable. Co-workers should remember that it is the driver in whose hands they live and their health. And drivers in reflective uniforms should choose a style of driving so that others in the car are not only afraid, but they feel comfortable. “In any case, it is good to expect the possibility of a jam in a traffic jam. That’s why it’s good to have enough fuel in the tank, something to eat in the cabin, and plenty of drinks. Any manifestations of aggression can only make the situation worse, “concludes Roman.

Reflective vests outside of the village

The Senate passed the amendment without changes, which among other things allows municipalities to restrict the operation of SEGWAY. The standard also directs pedestrians to wear reflective material outside the village and allows police to detain small technical certificate in poor technical condition of the vehicle.

He decided on Wednesday by the Senate despite efforts by some senators who wanted, among other things, remove the officers the right to measure the speed or allow cyclists to ride after drinking less alcohol. The amendment, which also saves motorists obligation to clean up vehicles from the ice and snow from where they obstructed from view, now gets to the signature of the president.

Norma has also permitted to remove a half year driving license for those who crossed the railway crossing at the time of signal arrival. The fine for such an offense is not increased yet, as advocated by the Greens, the Social Democrats by Senator Peter Galas but in the future considering the increase from five thousand to five times.

The largest part of the three-hour debate took the Senators debate on the abolition of the right of officers to measure the rate that pushed the chairman of the ODS senators and Teplice Mayor. “The proposal for the deletion of the possibility to measure the speed of vehicles of municipal police, the Ministry of Transport pursuant to the Ministry of the Interior adopted a negative opinion,” said Transport Minister Dan in reflective uniforms. He reasoned, inter alia, that the change was not discussed with the concerned authorities and was not evaluated its impact on traffic safety and investment communities to radar.

Keera argued that many communities want only improve incomes, and therefore leave the rate measured outside built-up areas. He also pointed to the administration and the increase in unpaid fines for traffic offenses, which according to him, over the past five years has climbed from 29 million to 43 million.

CSSD chairman senators admitted that the city police would not have to measure your speed, but compensates for insufficient capacity of the police officers in order to ensure greater safety in the communities. This also argued Sen. “I speak against itself, because I patroness of the city police. Very often it subsidizes for speeding,” she said.

Senate deputy chairman Zeneca (CSSD) proposed to enable cyclists either by the Austrian model 0.8 per mile of alcohol in the blood, if they went after a third-class road or bike paths, or alternatively 0.5 percent. It would also limit the maximum amount of fines for alcohol for cyclists at 500 crowns. He argued that the police often collect fines on the wine trails.

The obligation reflective elements for pedestrians, a vest or just armbands, Transport Minister said that for her violations will face a fine of up to two thousand. Flak also said that the ministry has an agreement with the police that more people handing out reflective tape. He also announced that his office is trying to deal with the Czech Association of Insurance Companies to provide towing vehicles unusable.
